British Land, owners of Serpentine Green have recently installed over 1000 solar panels on the roof of the centre.
The solar panels cover the size of nine tennis courts and will generate enough power to power 85 homes for a whole year, or 1.2 million miles of charge for an electric car.
During summer, 22% of the centre's electricity for the common areas and car park will be come from the solar panels. Over one year this is expected to save 140 tonnes of CO2 and 3,289 tonnes over the next 25 years - equivalent to taking 2,155 cars off the road!
We're excited to introduce this latest project and will continue working to improve sustainability at Serpentine Green over the next few years. This will include a 20% energy reduction over the next six years and 300 tonnes of waste recycled over the next three years.
And of course, we're still home to over 500,000 bees at Serpentine Green!
