Mothercare opens at Serpentine Green

Leading nursery retailer Mothercare has opened a combined Mothercare and Early Learning Centre store in Peterborough’s Serpentine Green Shopping Centre.

The 11,750 square foot store will offer parents a wide range of maternity and children's clothing, nursery furniture and home furnishings, feeding, bathing, travel equipment and toys.

The store will also offer shoppers practical advice on choosing the right pushchair, car-seat fitting and general safety advice.

The store will have dedicated mother and baby parking spaces next to the store and a car seat fitting bay.
The store has taken the place of Gap and two other retailers which closed earlier in the year.  The store will have a team of 34 mainly local staff when fully recruited.

Manager Nic Jones, formerly the manager of Gap in the Centre, said: “Some of the staff were with me at Gap and some are new to retail but all the team are really passionate about the new store. We have all undergone really good training with Mothercare so they know the product inside out and can give customers really good sound advice.”

Lesley Honeyford, 36, from Bretton, is pictured with her daughter Olivia enjoyed trying out the new in-store technology pods which allow customers to browse and order products in-store. Lesley said: “We’ve been eagerly awaiting this store opening as it is really convenient for us. It’s a fabulous, light and airy store – really well designed – it’s really easy to push your buggy around.”

Dennis Baldry, Centre Manager, said: “Mothercare is a really positive addition to our family offer. It is a great looking store and a real asset to the Centre”.
